I bought these grommets for using in the back of two book cases I was planning to build. The bookcases would serve as media cabinets and would flank our fireplace which has a wall mounted TV above. The biggest problem I faced was running several cables through the backs of the bookshelves in a stylish way. I wanted a flanged grommet as it would be easy to install, hidden, and fully functional. These grommets were larger than I expected thought they were exactly 4" and ended up being precisely what I needed. Running cables through them was very easy and the black rubber blends well with the dark espresso finish. I work for a plastics manufacturing company and have come across many styles of grommets and could tell that these are high quality, industrial strength, rubber grommets. I don't expect them to fade or crack for the entire lifetime of the book cases.
