The Satin Nickel I received neither looks like their photo, nor like any other Satin Nickel on the planet. The one I received is sort of a Goldish Brown. Not worth the time to return, but if you are expecting this to match Satin Nickel door knobs or trim, not going to happen.Otherwise, fairly easy to install and I think it will do a good job of keeping the rain out of this exposed door.Have to have the door relevaled to make sure it will really workThe product looks good and definitely has a good amount of material on its seal. It is excellent but unfortunately did not work with my inside flooring. (I believe my scenario is rare and most everyone else should have no problems). Getting the seal completely on the door bottom is not easy. I used soapy water and a lot of yanking. Unless you have previous experience mounting these, it's probably going to be best to install this door bottom with the door removed from its hinges. It's much easier to put on and ensure the seal has been cut to fit the full door length. You may also want to research whether temperature expansion and contraction needs to be taken into consideration. The seal was stretched when I put it on the door bottom and then shrunk back to its proper size after I installed it to the door. However, I did not remove the door from the hinges. I had crazy looking hinges, the project was taking longer than expected and I needed to get the bottom on. Unfortunately, the tile floor installers had laid the tiles too high inside the doorway where the door swings open and it prevents the door from being able to open sufficiently enough with this door bottom installed. I'll leave this door bottom on, remove its seal and need to buy a door threshold that instead has the seal mounted on it.I cannot cut the door bottom to allow the door to fully swing open. Then it would be too short when fully closed and not make a good seal with the door threshold.I installed this on a Therma Tru Door Bottom. I had to rip out a portion of the Therma Tru Sill and modify the base to make it work but the net result is that this piece combined with my sill modification made this door work better than it ever has and that includes when it was new. I have zero air leaks and absolutely no water intrusion. I had a painter come through and power wash the house in preparation for painting. When he cleaned the door with a pressure washer and no water came inside we knew we had found a winner. Not a job for the novice, but highly effective if you know how to use the tools of the trade. I'm a master craftsman with 40 years experience. The hardest part for me was hoisting the very heavy door back onto its hinges after I installed this piece.I had rain coming into my bedroom from the French doors one day. Ordered two of these and they were pretty easy to install in about an hour. Took off the door hinge pins, put the door on some saw horses, ripped off the old deteriorating seal, lined up where these would fit, marked a line where they went past the door, used angle grinder on the aluminum piece to cut to length, used scissors to cut rubber to length, fit it, screw it, put door back up. Bought these because of the small lip to divert water away. Hasn't rained too hard yet but this seals tight and I have no worries about leaks anymore. This would be a great solution to my door/threshold gap except it has to be shortened to allow for door closing against the frame. The directions show a hack saw. I have one and the effort needed to cut through the product and rough edge is unacceptable.Looks good did take some cutting to fit it. Not sure how long it will last as a small cord between the door bent the corner when the wind shut the door.Nice product, finished of my refinished door nicely
