I own several Gregory packs. In fact, I only get Gregory packs because they fit me well. Since I have the Maya 16 that fits so well, I figured the Maya 10 would too. I got the Maya 10 for travel by air. The dimensions are right and would fit under the seat of a plane. The pack wasn't comfortable because the shoulder straps are wider than those on the Maya 16 I have. That difference in width makes the pack very uncomfortable for me. Of course, other women might be comfortable with that, but I hate shoulder straps that are too wide and cut into the arms. Also, the seller folded the pack in a box that was too small. I think that impacted the back panel of the pack. When I compared it to that of my Maya 16, I could tell the back panel was abnormally bent. This is not acceptable at all. I would never do this to any of my packs. So, I returned the pack. This pack is very comfortable when strapped correctly. I've compared it to the Osprey Tempest 9 and the previous model of the Gregory Maya 10. All three were available on Amazon. While the Tempest has more bells and whistles, both the Mayas were a little more comfortable, and fit better to the contour of my back. The hip belts sit in a better (lower) position than the Tempest, which helps bare the load better. However, I like the previous model of the Gregory Maya 10 better than this one, due to these reasons:-On this pack, the stretch pockets on the side are two tight for water bottles (which was one of the main things I needed). The previous Maya has big enough side pockets. See pics (grey is new Maya, blue is previous Maya)-The bottom of this pack is narrow which possibly helps with comfort but makes packing harder.-The front stretch pocket on this pack is nice, but not as big as the previous Maya.I gave 4 stars cause some of the negatives are due to my preference, and the pack is pretty comfortable. This model of the Maya does have larger hip pockets, but I still prefer to put my phone in the small zipper pocket on top. Also, I wish so much that Gregory would make a Maya 10 in black. Not all of us prefer pink, teal, blue, etc. Overall quality is great like Gregory is, but I am going to return this one and keep the older version.I love this pack! I intended to order the 16L to replace another Gregory pack I’ve been using for 9 yrs. The 10L is spacious enough for day hikes, and small enough for long days on the bike. The airflow on the back is pretty good, fits well, feels good. The hip pockets are large enough to hold my snacks and phone with back up battery and cord, and other small misc items. I’m extremely happy with it!!The side pockets are narrow and don't stretch enough even for a slim smart water bottle. So unless you're going to use a bladder you won't be able t carry water with you, which is pointless for a backpack. The rest of the pack seemed well made. Too bad it was made with this flaw.I have never been dissatisfied with a Gregory backpack. Excellent quality and fit. This pack is perfect for a day hike
