I realize they’re much cheaper, but the Mark II blade will hold you back. As a coach and Learn to Skate instructor, the Jackson Freestyle is my boot recommendation for teens and adults over 130lbs or fast-growing skaters working on Lutz and Axel with an eye on doubles. For pre-mounted boot & blade sets, I prefer the Mirage blade over the Aspire XP, if available. However, Jackson is now offering the Freestyle mounted to Mark II blades on Amazon, with an eye on IG-inspired skaters looking for a pretty skate at a less jaw-dropping price point. But boots and blades at this level are usually purchased separately and then temporarily mounted and adjusted by a professional so the skater is properly balanced, to accommodate foot issues like pronation or supination. At $200, the Jackson Freestyle with MARK II blades is worth purchasing just for the boots and then replacing the blades with something like Jackson Finesse, Legacy 7, Coronation Ace or, my favorite, MK Professional.Ideally, you should consult an experienced skate tech to be properly fitted prior to purchasing, but if you don’t have access to one, Jackson skates tend to run true to size, but don’t size up. Figure skates should be tight and hug your feet snugly. The good thing about buying on Amazon is you can try them and exchange for another size if needed. Look at the size chart. Trace and measure your feet start and with the size closest to your measurement. Unless you’re certain you need wide boots, go with regular width first. If they feel too tight at the ball of the feet, but you were able to get them on, try the same size in the wider width before going a half size up.Don’t add LENGTH to accommodate for WIDTH. Most skaters are wearing boots that are too big for them.
