We purchased one of these blankets in the 48x72 for my husband initially. He loved the softness and weight distribution, but after one night of sleeping with it, declared it too hot. (He always runs hot at night and prefers a sheet only in the summer.) We have daughters aged 9, 7 and 3 who each curled up with it and immediately sighed with happiness! I wish I would have gotten their reactions and contented grins on video. Just like they were being hugged! So we ordered a blanket for the oldest 2 girls. The oldest (9) likes the blanket for snuggling when she is anxious, but not for sleeping. Our middle daughter (7) has ADHD and difficulty sleeping. Since getting this blanket, she drops off to sleep more quickly than usual, settles faster, and sleeps better! We love the cool effect and softness of the bamboo fabric. It is sewn well and the glass beads distribute evenly. There are loops for a duvet cover, though the duvets we have tried are much too big for it. My only regret is that I wish the company (or someone) would make duvet covers to fit the blankets! At first I regret ordering a queen size when infact it wouldnt even reach to the sides of the mattress. However, my husband doesnt like the additional weight of the blanket, so I have it all myself. we now using two kinds of blanket lol. it's a win win situation for us since he complains that I grab all the covers to myself.okay, so more about the weighted blanket:I thought 15pounds for me is a bit heavy. but I notice that I was having better sleep. There's an emotional satisfaction whenever I wake up. lol sorry cant explain it too well. Before, whenever I wake up, I feel grumpy and felt like the sleep I had wasnt enough.next, I realized that the material isnt cotton. Although the title says cotton, you have to make sure that you clicked the right one.Update after 6 months: the blanket is holding up well, and I still find it useful for when I feel anxious or might have trouble falling asleep, but I do put it aside for other times if the temp isn't ideal. When the house is warmest (78F) with the fan on it's okay when I'm chilly falling asleep, then I tend to be warmer later in the night/morning, and at that point I sometimes take the blanket off. When the house is cold (68-70F) I'm glad to have this blanket! It seems to hold heat only for a short time (it cools off when I pull it down to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night). I think I've learned to sleep under it in a way that less of the blanket bunches between me and my partner (he doesn't use it), and it doesn't fall off the bed anymore, but I do still wish it was narrower, because that does still happen sometimes. There was a while where I was concerned about pressure on my knees but those aches have gone away. Overall, still feeling it's a good purchase.---original post---I waited 3 months to write a review so I could write you a novel with some real experience behind it.First, the only reason this is 4 and not 5 stars is that I sleep with my partner in a queen bed, but only I use the weighted blanket, and the problem is that it's a bit too wide and bunches up in-between us. It feels passive-aggressive to have several pounds's worth of blanket form a barrier in the middle of the bed due to the excess width. And it's pretty difficult to re-adjust that much of the blanket's weight while lying under it and trying not to wake a sleeping partner one foot away. The mid-bed barrier is the alternative to having the extra width sliding off the outer edge of the bed and dragging large parts (or all) of the blanket off with it. If I was a bigger-around person this might not be such a problem and I might need the extra width (I'm less than 40" around at my widest part). Maybe a small-adult size would be nice; this was the smallest they offered that would cover me from shoulders to toe (I didn't want just a throw for sleeping in bed). The best solution I've found is folding under the outer-edge length of the blanket so it's just wide enough to cover me, and having the weighted blanket sandwiched between the sheets and another blanket to help hold that in place--and probably also sleeping more still and moving more carefully when I shift sleeping positions (that got easier pretty quickly with experience). The experience of sleeping with it--other than the issue above--has been good. It took a few days to learn how to sleep under it so it doesn't as easily get pulled off the bed. I find it helps to make the bed daily, so when I get in it's arranged right and flat (that's easy enough to pull it flat and re-fold the edge when I get up). If I don't straighten it before sleeping it's too wonky and doesn't cover me right or gets pulled off the bed or into the center too easily.I find it is comforting and it seems to be helping my sleep. Admittedly, I'm also practicing other sleep hygiene strategies, but I think on the whole where I practice those less consistently, the blanket has been consistent and I'd say my sleep in the past few months has been better than before. I tried it on the couch a couple times for what might be "restless legs" but it's just too heavy to carry back and forth, and I didn't want it to get dirty. It is a bother to lift off the bed to change the sheets since I have some minor shoulder issues, but it's not prohibitive.Something I didn't see much about in reviews before I bought was how it feels in warmer climates. I live in north-central FL where it gets hot and humid, and we don't use AC until we have to, so the house has been at about the hottest we allow lately, 78F, with no AC to remove the moisture (though it's nowhere near as bad as that can get around here, it's probably relatively high humidity for other regions). Sometimes we've had the fan on but most nights not so far this year. I don't have a duvet so I've kept this blanket on top of a light bedsheet, and have continued having a medium-light blanket on top of the weighted blanket (as we get warmer I plan to trade that out for duvet on the weighted blanket; either way I want this thing protected because I don't want to try to wash it if it gets dirty). So with all that, I've been sleeping pretty comfortably, temperature-wise. Bear in mind, I'm generally cold-blooded, so I'm afraid I still can't say much about what it'll be like for normal-temp people. My guess is if you don't use AC you'd get a bit warm under it; I do sometimes feel a little on the warm side lately (I think the beads retain heat a little, even though the fabric can feel pleasantly cool). It was nice when it was colder out (we also don't turn the heat up much in winter, so it stayed chilly inside, as low as 68F.To be honest, I really thought the whole idea of weighted blankets was a bit silly. However, my daughter had one and she liked it. I purchased this one and I was amazed at the difference. First of all I didn’t toss and turn the way I had previously done. There was also a kind of peace that I felt with it on me. I know that even sounds strange but if you knew how pragmatic I am, you would believe me.Who would've guessed sleeping under a quilt of thin bean bags would make such a difference? I have had sleep issues since I was 12. Nothing ever helps much or for long. I was afraid to try this blanket in the summer, but it doesn't make me sleep too hot. It DOES help me sleep, though! It's not so heavy that I CAN'T still toss and turn, it's just comfortably weighted to the point I DON'T toss & turn nearly as much. The only time I ever had an issue with the weight of the blanket was the first time I actually slept in until my alarm went off. This so rarely happens that the sound startled me mid dream cycle and I awkwardly tossed the blanket in such a way that a weighted edge smacked me hard in the face and left a subtle mark. It should have been a terrible way to wake up, but the fact that I needed to BE woken up & hadn't just been fake sleeping all night put a huge smile on my face. If anxiety is a partial cause of your poor sleep, please give this blanket a try. It feels exactly like being gently held down by a layer of children's bean bags which should be weird but somehow isn't. It's like you laid down, let some playful kids cover you in a layer of bean bags, and you pretended it was too heavy and you couldn't get up (just to make them giggle,) but then while you're smiling and pretending you realize you're REALLY comfortable and the kids disappear and then you're asleep. For several consecutive hours. Awesome.Possibly the best purchase I've made in recent history. $200 is pretty steep for a blanket and I have to admit I bawked for a while at the price tag but I saw a sale and I took it. I've never slept better, the slight pressure puts me to sleep almost immediately and my rest is more effective than I think it's ever been. I am a light sleeper and wear earplugs every night, the slightest movement wakes me up, I'm that guy. This blanket has changed that, I sleep through my husbands alarm no problem, I don't even notice him getting out of bed. I don't even wake enough during the night to notice the cats sleeping on me (that's simply unimaginable to me). I'm so happy I purchased this blanket. Now then some pros and cons:Pros:- Never slept more soundly, great improvement in quality of life.- Quilt seems to be of sturdy construction- Quilt isn't so hot that I'm throwing it off in the middle of bed- Cat's don't like sleeping under it so they leave me aloneCons:- It doesn't come with a cover and I think it would be a nightmare to launder. Order a duvet cover in the same size. I got this guy: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00NWPV6Q2/ref=pe_3034960_233709270_TE_item also a great product and super soft.; The quilt does have hooks to attach to a cover.- The cats hate being under it, something about the pressure turns them off. So they won't go under it like a normal blanket. I have a regular duvet to swap to when I want kitten cuddles when I want them.If you're on the fence, buy it and try it. I was unconvinced but I'm happy I gave it a shot.Positives:Arrived on time, looks good, helps with insomnia pretty well.Negatives:After 2 months of moderate usage the seams are giving up in random places. It seems that the reason for that is that a single weak seam is used to hold each "cell" of beads (which are pretty heavy) and therefore eventually the seams give-up and the beads shift their position to a neighbouring cell. As a result, after 2 months the weight is not equally distributed. The blanket is still pretty good at helping with insomnia, but I can easily feel lighter and heavier sections appearing on it.Also, as you can see on the photo, the seam quality is horrible. There are places where the thread just jumps to a different location (and is easy to accidentally break), in other places there is just bunch of thread in single place.Given that all weighted blankets should work pretty much the same way, I would recommend getting any other alternative, as I do not think it's possible to make a blanket of a quality worse than this one - holding literally on a single thread.I'm enjoying my new blanket. The weight of it certainly takes some getting used to, but it does feel nice wrapped around you at night. One thing though - it definitely isn't "cooling", I have no idea why they are marketing it as such. I live in Japan and it is 30c plus most summer nights. This blanket does nothing to cool you down. But I'm looking forward to autumn, because I will finally get to enjoy it properly.Overall I think a lot of people will like this product, just ignore the "cooling" bit.I've been searching for a weighted blanket for quite some time, specifically with glass beads and breathable cotton as I tend to overheat, and at a good price point. The ZonLi blanket was the lowest priced option with the highest ratings I could find. I originally purchased a 12lb blanket as that is closer to 10% of my body weight plus several pounds, but I felt it was not heavy enough, so I ended up exchanging for the 15lb 47x72. I did not overheat under this blanket at all, even with an added cotton duvet cover (purchased via YnM - the size and inside loops are compatible). At 5'2" this blanket is just long enough for me - anyone taller than that should go for the 60x80 so your feet also get even coverage.I have a weighted blanket at home that my parents got me and I wanted one I could use at my boyfriend's place. I got this one, mostly for the price. It's nice for what you pay for and does deserve 5 stars considering the price, but you shouldn't expect a $200 weighted blanket quality as it is not. The beads are a bit noisier than they are in my other blanket and I can feel them more than with my other one. The fabric of the blanket is not extremely soft, but I know there are covers you can put over them. I just use the sheet between me and the blanket.Otherwise, it does the job! It really is heavy and helps me sleep easier. The twin is a good size if your partner is not a fan of having something heavy on them while they sleep. I do recommend that blanket, but if you want better quality, you should definitely look for a higher priced one.
