This is a beautiful instrument. I got it used because I’m not willing to pay full price for it. I’d ordered one like it once before that you couldn’t distinguish the highest or lowest note so you really only got 13 notes out of it. This one, while the highest and lowest notes are not completely crisp, if you hit them in the right place, they are at least discernible, and the rest of the notes are fine. It creates a very lovely sound, very calming. I can play on it for hours, and have already even though I’ve literally only had this particular one for a day. I have learned a few modern songs on it…I say modern, but I mean like, Summer Breeze by Seals & Crofts and King of Pain by the Police. I have a good ear for music, so I just figured out the notes myself. It’s really a lot of fun if you’re willing to invest some time in it and especially if you can figure out music notes on your own, as I don’t see a lot of music books around for it yet. But, if you know anything at all about the musical scale, you can figure it out with patience. One more thing…if you press with your hands and put a small amount of pressure on the tongues, sometimes it will make that particular note sound crisper, and wiping the inside and outside down with a clean towel also makes a very slight difference. Best wishes if you buy this. I really like it a lot, but I think they’re all a bit overpriced. If you have the extra money, I say, go for it.Purchased the Navy color drum. Color is nice but decorative rope trim was a light brown color which did not match and looks different than what was pictured. Still is a Beautiful drum but the notes are not clear and the sound is muffled. Too much static. Some notes are not in tune. Was expecting a better sound and tune quality for the price. Had to return only due to the poor sound quality and notes not being in tune. Needed a more professional sounding drum. Ok for beginners only who don’t care about note range or clear sounding notes.This steel drum is really high quality and the blue color is so beautiful. The carrying case is really nice and includes two sticks with a stand and some rubber rings for playing with your fingers!The wide middle edge of the drum is covered with a woven satin carrying rope. It’s soft, pretty, and works great to help transport your drum with or without the case ☺️The sound quality of this steel drum is excellent. It sounds lovely, it’s fun to play and pretty easy to learn. It even includes a book of simple songs to get you started.Purchased as a Christmas gift for my husband, but the whole family loves it. Beautiful sounds and fun to play.Most of the tongues have a pleasant tone, but I wanted to play with the finger picks rather than the sticks and the tone with fingers and finger picks is not good. I am considering returning it.
